Perhaps the latest surge in the popularity of sports betting is the reason why several resorts around town have embraced the sports book as a draw to their respective properties. The trend from several years ago of downsizing sports books appears to be over and the Cosmopolitan’s new sports book is proof of that. Lit up by dozens of ultra-high definition flickering plasma screens, The formula for new or improved sports books in Vegas is evident at the Cosmopolitan – a sports book bar with video poker and great views of the screen, a decent selection of draft beer, comfortable sports book seating, and an overall more upscale experience.

This latest entry into the sports book landscape along Las Vegas Boulevard opened a day before Super Bowl 50. And by the looks of things, it will surely be one of the more popular sports books along the strip.

Sports Book At Cosmopolitan In Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan sports book is run by CG Technology. There is no free drink set up at any of the CG Technology sports books in town so that is really the only drawback. The bar in the middle of the sports book is a good option if you’re a video poker player – free drinks and great views of the high definition flat screens. This bar hasn’t implemented the coupon system for free drinks at their video poker tables; hopefully it stays that way. There is a free self-serve lemon water jug at the bar, which is a nice touch.

Regardless of where you are sitting, sight lines for both sports and horse racing screens are terrific and this new set up is nearly 3-times as big, and much more open, than the former space on the second floor. Gone also are the typical candy apple red plastic seats CG Technology sports books are known for. Think more Bellagio or Wynn as far as the new and very comfortable leather chairs at the Cosmopolitan sports book.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is a luxury hotel and casino that opened in 2010. Situated on the famous Las Vegas Strip, it cost almost $4 billion to construct and offers guests 110,000 square feet of casino. The Cosmopolitan Race & Sports Book powered by William Hill is the prime sports watching and wagering hot spot on The Las Vegas Strip. Place your wagers at the full-service Race & Sports Book inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas or on the William Hill. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has you covered with The Big Game showing on numerous screens around the resort, including lounges, restaurants, and at our Strip-side Race & Sports Book. Race & Sports Football Menu (PDF) Reservations. Located on the casino floor adjacent to The Las Vegas Strip, The Cosmopolitan Race & Sports Book is spacious, comfortable and convenient, offering a significantly upgraded experience. The Race & Sports. The Cosmopolitan is pleased to offer an Early Check-In Program to our guests, which guarantees a room to be ready by 11AM for an additional fee of $50. To inquire about availability, please call Resort.

The horse racing area is located to the rear of the sports book – these seats also have their own monitor, which seems kind of silly being that there are multiple large screens showing the horse racing action directly in front of this section of seats. Seats in the main sports viewing area also have personal monitors, with an option to play slot games. An extra way to keep sports bettors entertained perhaps but the multi-play slots seem a bit out of place at a sports book desk.

It will be interesting to see what type of crowd the new Cosmopolitan sports book attracts. Will the IPA on tap and shuffle board/foosball set up, which scream millennial, provide for that type of crowd? Or will it be like the Bellagio, where the sports book clientele seems more on the “country club” side of things? Probably a little of both, as the Cosmopolitan, even as upscale as it is, attracts both young and more mature gamblers. Regardless, this new space will surely be a much livelier spot than the former sports book set up on the second floor, which was only convenient if you were headed to Holstein’s or China Poblano for food. The new Cosmopolitan sports book can now be considered one of the best on the strip…..and yes, they’ll let you bring a slice of pie from Secret Pizza to enjoy while watching and betting on sports.
